Progress Guide

A checklist companion to the course. Use it to see how far you have come, what is left, and whether you are ready to move on.

At a glance

  • Use it: alongside the Curriculum Roadmap
  • Covers: 13 modules, 32 sessions, 6 capstone milestones, 10 artefacts
  • Best for: self-study, where nobody else is checking your progress

How this guide works

Your ticks are not saved

This is a static website. Checkboxes here do not store anything — they reset when you reload or move to another page. They are a reading aid, not a tracker.

Pick whichever of these suits you, and do it before session 1:

Copy the plain-text checklist below into a file, or any notes app, and tick items there. This is the most reliable option.

Use your browser's print function. The checkboxes above and below print as empty boxes you can tick with a pen — useful if you like a paper record.

One entry per module is enough: what I learned · what is still unclear · what I want to practise. Three lines. It makes revision before the capstone much faster.

Before you start

  • I have skimmed Start Here and know what the course does and does not do.
  • I have read the Learning Path and understand why the order matters.
  • I know which capstone option I am aiming for (Module 13) — even roughly.
  • I have created a folder for my artefacts, and I will keep every document I produce.
  • I have a way to take notes that I can search later.

Module checklist

Complete a module when you can honestly say yes to every item in its row. If the labs or the self-check questions did not go well, go back to the lesson before starting the next module — the material is cumulative.

Two rows are deliberately narrow: Module 03 has no lab of its own (its integrated plan is produced in the capstone), and quizzes exist for Modules 01–02 at present, so the self-check for the other modules is the module's objectives and its lab rubric. The Self-Assessment page tracks what exists and what is planned.

Lab numbers are programme-wide, so a module may have several. Do them in numeric order where they build on each other — 08 → 09 → 10 is one schedule, and must be done in that order.

The labs draw their scenarios from the example-project library. The Curriculum Roadmap's workshop activities use the Campus Event Portal case study instead — both are valid places to practise, and each module page lists its own labs and its case study.

Weekly tracker

Follow the Curriculum Roadmap at two sessions per week, or the Semester Calendar if you want the week-by-week plan with its lesson and lab links already mapped out. Tick a week when both sessions are done and you have attempted the self-check.

The session 17 checkpoint

Session 17 is a consolidation session, not a rest week. Lay out every artefact you have produced and check that each one agrees with the last — charter → scope → WBS → schedule → estimate. Inconsistencies found here cost minutes; the same ones found in the capstone cost days.

Capstone milestones

The capstone is built from work you have already done. Each milestone reuses an earlier artefact, so nothing is wasted. Full detail is in the Curriculum Roadmap.

Artefact tracker

These are the artefacts the course asks you to produce. Keep them all — the capstone is assembled from them.

Am I ready to move on?

A quick gate before you start the next module. If you cannot answer all three questions for the module you just finished, re-read its lesson.

Question If the answer is "no"
Can I explain this module's main idea without notes? Re-read the lesson; explain it to someone
Did my lab artefact pass the rubric? Fix the weakest rubric row and re-mark
Could a stranger act on my artefact without asking me anything? It is incomplete — see How to Self-Assess

For a fuller check, the Skills Progression Map lists the capability you should have at each level. Tick every "can do" statement before advancing.

If you fall behind, or get stuck

Situation What to do
A week slipped Do not skip the lab. Cut the case study reading instead — the lab is where learning sticks
A module felt too hard Check the prerequisites for that module in the Curriculum Roadmap; the gap is usually earlier
A quiz went badly Re-read only the lesson section you missed, then retake it after a day
You disagree with a model answer Justify your reasoning from the material, then consider contributing a correction
You have lost the thread Read the Learning Path — it re-explains where you are and why
A "rule of thumb" sounds familiar but wrong Check Common Misconceptions before you use it in an artefact
Your numbers do not match an answer key Compare formulas in Calculators and Worksheets and find the step that diverged

Finish line

  • All 13 modules ticked.
  • All six capstone milestones complete.
  • Capstone delivered and self-marked against the rubric.
  • Retrospective written — specific, owned, and checkable.
  • Learning log reviewed; I can name what I would do differently next time.

If you can tick all five, you have finished the course. The Skills Progression Map is honest about what that does and does not mean, and what to do next.
