Final Project — Presentation Template¶
Length: 6 minutes + 2–3 minutes Q&A · Slides: 6 · Sessions W16 S31–32
Use the timing as a hard budget: Slide 1 (0:30) · Slide 2 (1:00) · Slide 3 (1:30) · Slide 4 (2:00) · Slide 5 (1:00) · Demo (optional, within slide 4's budget).
Slide 1 — Question (30 sec)¶
- One sentence: the question.
- One sentence: why it matters (audience + decision from the proposal).
- Pitfall to avoid: two questions, or a question the data can't answer.
Slide 2 — Data (1 min)¶
- Source, license, shape (rows × columns).
- ONE quality issue you found and fixed (proves the cleaning skill).
- Pitfall to avoid: no license, or a wall of columns.
Slide 3 — Method (1.5 min)¶
- Model(s) + metric.
- One line on why this method (not just what it is).
- Baseline comparison (one number: model X vs. baseline Y).
- Pitfall to avoid: jargon without meaning; no baseline.
Slide 4 — Results (2 min)¶
- ONE chart + the ONE number that answers the question.
- One sentence of interpretation tied to the decision in Slide 1.
- Optional 30-sec live demo of the Streamlit app (have a fallback: screenshot or printed output if the demo fails).
- Pitfall to avoid: five charts; a number with no context.
Slide 5 — Limits & next steps (1 min)¶
- One data limitation, one modeling limitation.
- One concrete next step if given another week.
- Pitfall to avoid: "our model is perfect."
Slide 6 — Thank you + takeaway (30 sec)¶
- One-line takeaway: "
shows , so ." - Invite questions.
Demo checklist (live or fallback)¶
-
streamlit run app.pyverified the day before, data cached. - Fallback ready: saved screenshot + printed headline numbers.
- One scripted interaction: "I'll select Islamabad, and watch the line plot update."
Q&A prep (answer in ≤ 30 seconds each)¶
- Why did you choose this dataset/model/metric?
- What would you do with more data/time?
- What could go wrong with your conclusion?
- How do you know your results are reproducible?
- Which part did each teammate own?
Rehearsal rules¶
- Hard stop at 6:00 — rehearse with a timer twice.
- Slides must be readable at arm's length (no paragraphs).
- The audience is non-technical managers: define every metric you name.
